What is FIRST?
FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, is a national organization aimed at providing real life engineering, technology, science, communication, and leadership skills to young innovators and technology leaders with a mentor-based program.
FIRST allows K-12 students to get hands-on experience with the engineering design process, building, programming, and the communication skills needed to present a solution to a problem.
We participate in the FIRST Tech Challenge events.

Branches of FIRST
FIRST Tech Challenge
FIRST Tech Challenge is a branch of the FIRST organization in which future engineers from around the globe can interact and compete. Initiated by Dean Kamen as the first sport for the mind, students from elementary to high school can compete in interactive competitions that not only improve design, creativity, and engineering skills, but also lead to improvements within society. In particular, FTC's aim is to communicate and spread the values of FIRST as well as design a robot based on a specified challenge. |

Gracious Professionalism
|
Gracious Professionalism is a universal motto for all FIRST participants. Whether that person is a volunteer, coach, or competitor, everybody in the FIRST program is expected to show gracious professionalism. Gracious professionalism is a state of mind in which people are expected to show full effort and try their hardest, yet, treat everybody with respect. |
